Snakes

#1 Houston Company for Snake Removal Services

Texas has a vast population of snakes, many of which are totally harmless and aid in controlling rodent and other pest populations.  That doesn’t mean you want them taking up residence in your house or yard. SOS-ASAP will safely remove snakes from your property.  If you suspect a snake to be venomous, keep all pets and family at a safe distance.  The snake is just as frightened of you and will strike if it feels the need to protect itself.  Seen or unseen, you probably have a few snake neighbors whether you live in an urban area, a suburb or the Houston and surrounding areas. The most easily recognized are the venomous rattlesnakes (which are very uncommon here in our area but possible), coral snakes, copperheads and cottonmouths. Venomous snakes tend to have fat, exaggerated triangular-shaped heads and a more patterned body. While many snakes have non-venomous look-alikes, their pupils do not lie.  Venomous snakes have narrow oval pupils, while non-venomous will be simple circles – though we doubt you’ll want to get close enough to inspect them!

There are 68 species of Texas snakes. Snakes are specialized for capturing specific kinds of prey such as earthworms, snails, slugs, amphibians, rodents, birds, and even other snakes. Of the 113 species and subspecies of snakes, less than 15% are venomous. We can divide these snakes into four main groups: rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, copperheads, and coral snakes.
