Do Dryer Vents Need to be Swept?

The short answer: YES!

Professionals in the industry suggest that dryer vents should be serviced yearly under the following circumstances:

1.       If clothes are even damp post drying cycle completion.

2.       If the dryer smells like smoke when used

3.       If the dryer will  not heat the dryer likely needs repairs

4.       If the dryer doesn’t shut off when on sensor dry.

5.       If top of the dryer is very hot when the dryer is running

6.       If a light indicates that the dryer is not venting properly (prevalent w/ modern dryers).

It is important to note that one should never leave home with the dryer running. Lint could back up into a heating element and possible cause a fire.

In other words, get those vents swept today!
